Lots of Fun in December!

We have a lot of fun stuff planned for December at Beauclerc!
Here are a few of the highlights:
CandyGrams!
Student Council will be selling CandyGrams in December! CandyGrams are special treats that you can buy for your friends, relatives, and current or former teachers throughout the school. All you have to do is fill out a tag and send it in with 25 cents and Student Council will do the rest! On the day before Winter Break, student council will hand-deliver your CandyGram! Information and order forms will come home Monday, December 1st!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Poetry Genre Study!
All December, we'll be reading and writing poetry! We'll read some serious and funny poems! We'll read poems about people, animals, and other stuff! We'll read poems by some of the best children's poetry writers, including Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein! And we'll top it all off with a Poetry Smack-Down Competition!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winter Concert - December 11th!
Come see Jenah, Vanna, Caitlin, Denis, and Jessica once again perform a wonderful Winter Concert! Mrs. Laymon has been working tirelessly with Chorus and ORFF to practice for this concert! If it's as good as the Veteran's Day concert, we're in for a real treat!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gingerbread House Project!
All of 5th Grade will come together on December 17th to make Gingerbread Houses! Later in the month, we'll be asking for students to volunteer to bring in different candy items to help with the decorating!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mid-Year Holiday Pajama Party!
On December 18, we'll have our annual Mid-Year Pajama Party in room 70! We'll have food, drinks, games, hot chocolate, and PRESENTS! You don't want to miss out on an incredibly fun, annual event! All parents and younger siblings are welcomed to join us for the party!
In addition, I'm asking for parents who can help out by bringing or sending in food and drinks! If you can help out, please let me know via E-Mail ASAP!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5th Grade Spelling Bee!
On January 6th, Beauclerc is holding a spelling bee in the Multi-Purpose Room for 5th grade students! Two students will be selected from each class to participate in the Spelling Bee! We'll be holding a qualifying tournament in room 70 during the second week in December!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome Back Winter Dance!

Safety Patrols will be hosting a Winter Dance again this year! However, this time it will be held AFTER the Winter Break as a way of welcoming students back to school after the two week holiday! More details to come!

Wax Museum

The Wax Museum was great fun last night! A big thanks to everyone who participated and who came to see it! Make sure to check the newspaper for an article about the event, including pictures of Esther as Sacajawea and Denis as Abraham Lincoln!

We'll be putting on the Wax Museum for the whole school TOMORROW, Thursday, all morning for the other classes in the school. Check back on the blog for pictures! Unfortunately, I can't post them now because of my modem being down at home. :(

My Internet's Down!

I'm sorry I was not able to update the homework last night. The Internet was down at school and when I arrived home after the Wax Museum, I found that my modem wasn't working! Wonderful! It still wasn't working this morning, so I may have to call it in to get it replaced, which means I may not be consistent with posting updates to the blog for the next few days. Please bear with me!

But the good news is that we have a lot of great things planned for December! There will be loads of great, fun things going on at school. Check out the calendar of events to the right of the blog for some of the highlights! More info to come soon (assuming my Internet cooperates!).

Veteran's Day Concert

Our Fifth Grade Chorus performed a special concert for Veteran's Day, featuring patriotic music. The quality of these pictures doesn't do justice to the great performances. Great job Caitlin, Jenah, Vanna, Denis, and Jessica!!!

Pumpkins and Politics!

We've had a busy week! First, we spent some time discussing and debating the two candidates for president and which would be best for our country. Take a look at some of the ideas the class came up with:

Then, on Thursday, the entire school participating in a mock presidential election! Results of the election will be revealed on Tuesday, Election Day!

Then, on Friday, we joined our kindergarten learning buddies for a activity involving weighing, measuring, floating, and counting the seeds from pumpkins!

Finally, our class enjoyed homemade candied apples thanks to Mrs. Flaherty!

Hey, what's Rami doing?
