We've been working on poetry for the last couple of weeks. Our class turned out some really outstanding poems. I'd like to share with you a sampling of some of the best poems from our class. It's a nice mix of serious and silly. Enjoy!
As has become the tradition in Mr. Sofferin’s class, this December we will be having an all-day Pajama Party the week before break! Students are invited to come to school in their PJs and slippers. They can even bring a blanket and a teddy bear if they want!
During the morning, we’ll share hot cocoa, watch a movie together, play games, visit with our Kindergarten Learning Buddies, and just relax with our friends and celebrate that we’ve come half-way through the fifth grade.
In the afternoon, we’ll have a holiday feast! This is where you come in! We need food, drinks, and paper products.
If you can help by bringing in or sending in food, drinks, or paper products for our party, please call me at (904) 608-8687, e-mail me at sofferinj@duvalschools.org, or send me a note, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Of course, family members are also invited to join us for our Mid-Year Bash! Please let me know as soon as possible if you intend to join us.
Student Council is sponsoring CandyGrams this year for the holidays! A CandyGram is a small card with a Candy Cane that you can have delivered to friends, siblings, cousins, and teachers throughout the school.
If you want to buy CandyGrams, it's very important that you follow the instructions on the green form that went home.
Fill out the CandyGram tags COMPLETELY, including the name of the teacher whose class your friend is in.
Then, cut out the CandyGram tags and put them in an envelope.
Put enough money to pay for each of the CandyGrams in the envelope. Each CandyGram costs 25 cents. So, if you are buying 8, you need to include $2.00 in the envelope.
Finally, write YOUR NAME on the envelope and return it to school by NEXT MONDAY, DECEMBER 8TH.
CandyGrams will be delivered on the last day before break, December 19th, at the end of the day.
