Nutcracker!

I got loads of great pictures from the Nutcracker! So many, it's taken all this time to sort out the best ones!

First, here are some of the pictures from dress rehearsals:

Azydeth, Petra, Isabel, and Mackenzie in "The Mexican Dance"

Destiny, Alyssa, and Hailey in "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy"

Josh in the role of the Judge

Mackenzie with her fan for the "Chinese Tea Dance"

Shane is up there somewhere, practicing the "Toy Soldier" dance.

Opening night finally came and the dancers got ready for the big night!

Here are Romin and the rest of the "Russian Bakers" dressed and ready to go.

Here's the dance that I organized, the "Toy Soldiers". Shane made an awesome Toy Soldier!

Aren't they precious! Destiny, Alyssa, and Hailey made adorable Sugar Plum Fairies!

Petra, Isabel, Azydeth, and Mackenzie in their "Mexican Dancers" costumes!

Here's the other Mackenzie in her "Chinese Tea" dress!

As the curtains prepared to be opened, some of the teachers were getting in some last minute practice time!

Here's Mr. Gibbons practicing with Romin and the "Russian Bakers"

Mrs. Yadon's showing the girls how to hold the fan! Either that or she's praying that they don't mess up!

Can't you just see Mrs. Nelson in a tutu doing this dance with the girls?

Mrs. Laymon going over some lyrics with Lucas, Hunter, and the rest of the miniature chorus.

Mrs. Rowan with her dancers from "Waltz of the Flowers"

The Mexican dancers trying to get into character by playing a game of "Uno"

Finally it was ready to go on stage for the big performance!

Here's Win and the other "Arabian Dancers" awaiting their turn to go on stage.

Here's Shane and the other soldiers (and a mouse trying to get in the picture!)

Mackenzie with the other "Chinese Tea Dancers"

That's Josh with two of the other stars of the show, David and Lizzy!

The "Toy Soldier" dance

"The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy"

Wait a minute? I don't remember the Rockettes being in "The Nutcracker!"

Win in the "Arabian Dance"

"The Chinese Tea Dance"

"Waltz of the Flowers"

Come to think of it, I don't remember there being a "Mexican Dance" in "The Nutcracker" either!

Here's everyone from Mr. Sofferin and Ms. Harris's classes that were in the Nutcracker, including Jonathan who did a terrific job in Stage Crew! Great job, everyone! I'm really looking forward to "American Grandstand" now!

Gingerbread Houses

We're going to have a great feast next week, thanks to all the wonderful things people will be sending in for our luncheon! It's gonna be a blast! Also, next Monday we'll be making Gingerbread Houses! I'll be bringing graham crackers and frosting, and I'm asking each student to bring a package of candy to share with the class. A form will be going home tomorrow with a list of some different kinds of candy that we need. Just check off what you want to bring and send the form back the next day. Here are some of the candy that works well:

Lifesavers
Mini candy canes
Hershey's Kisses
Twizzlers
Coconut (for snow)
M&Ms/Skittles
Jelly candies
Anything else that you think would work!

The kids have a ton of fun doing this! Check it out:

Loads of Benchmark Fun!!!

We had loads of funtaking the Benchmark test this week! Check out all the smiles!

More Testing Tomorrow!

Tomorrow we have a double dose of Science Benchmark Testing! That's 2 forty minute sessions back to back! Unless your children are sick, please be sure that they are here tomorrow for the test - otherwise they may have to miss seeing (or starring in) the Nutcracker on Thursday while they make up the tests!

Also don't forget that TONIGHT is the first performance of The Nutcracker for parents! The show starts at 6:45, but students who are performing need to be here, in costume, by 6:15 to get ready!
