Thursday was our annual carnival!

Patrol Field Trip

This past Wednesday, the patrols were honored with a luncheon at the Southside Businessmen's Club.

Family Fun Night and Cultural Arts Day!

We have two great events coming up next week for Beauclerc families! 

First, on Thursday afternoon, it's Family Fun Night (a.k.a. Beauclerc Carnival)!  We'll have loads of great fun, games, bouncy stuff, and prizes!  You might even get to throw a pie at Mr. Sofferin and Mrs. Peck!  Family Fun Night is open to all Beauclerc students and their families! 

Then, Friday is Cultural Arts Day!  We'll have our annual parade, followed by a day full of great events - including a Laser Light Show, Omega Man, and Soccer Collies (REMINDER - YOU MUST HAVE PERMISSION SLIP TURNED IN TO PLAY WITH THE COLLIES!) 

We'll also have a class picnic outside during lunch time.  Students are encouraged to bring picnic/beach blankets since we'll be sitting on the ground for our picnic.  Parents are welcome to join us for lunch at 1:00 on the field!  Remember, you must have filled out the parent volunteer form online in order to come.

Just for fun today, we made our own version of the newest Internet meme.

Human Body Test

Next Friday we will have a big, end-of-unit test on the Human Body.

What kids need to know:

• Function of each of the 8 systems we learned about in class (muscular, skeletal, digestive, respiratory, circulatory, nervous, excretory, and reproductive)
• Interdependence of organ systems
• Meanings of words - cells, tissue, organ, organ system, joint, voluntary muscles, involuntary muscles

Also, for each of the organs below, the students will need to know the organ system to which it belongs, as well as the function of the organ.

• esophagus
• stomach
• small intestine
• large intestine
• rectum
• trachea
• bronchial tubes
• lungs
• heart
• arteries
• veins
• kidneys
• bladder

We will be doing several more activities in class and for homework to practice these concepts and terms.

Keep Practicing with Reflex Math!

Our class knows our math facts pretty well, but how quick can you recall the facts that you know!  We're racing to see who can master their facts with Reflex Math the fastest!  Currently, Klea dominates our class leader board with 76% of her facts mastered.  Jennifer is close behind at 67%.  Let's see if anyone can beat Klea or Jennifer to be the first one to reach 100%.  You can check out the leader board on the side bar of the blog.  I've only included the students who currently have 25% mastery or higher.  I'll update the list every couple of days.

 If you can get to 100% mastery before March 8th - Next Friday - you can earn $500 in Bonus Money! Get it by the following Friday, you'll earn $400.  Master all your facts by March 22, and you'll get $200!  Get to 100% any time AFTER that and you'll still earn $100 in Bonus Money!  So, the faster you get there, the more you'll earn!
