Some Final Pictures of Fifth Grade!
I got some great pictures during our trip to Animal Kingdom! Check 'em out!
Here's everyone's favorite ride - the Mount Everest rollercoaster!
While we were waiting in line for one of the rides, we saw the Buck-Toothed Burrito had sneaked into the park!
Here's a bunch of our kids in front of the huge tree in the center of Animal Kingdom!
I think these three should have been in ORFF!
Ah, time for a nice, calm, relaxing journey on the "Dinosaur" ride!
Petra proves she really IS Nate's little sister!
Those were about all the pics I took while at the park. But riding back, we had great fun watching Quavon falling asleep!

Also, as you surely know, I've taken literally thousands of pictures this year - and I've loaded a LOT of them onto a public sharing folder. I don't want to post the link here, but if you want to access the pictures to make your own fifth grade scrapbook, or if your parents want to save or print any of the pictures of you from fifth grade, have your parents e-mail me and I'll send you a link to the folder. The pictures will only be available through the end of the summer - as I'll need to empty that folder to make room for stuff for next school year. So, get 'em while you can!

My Mom is Awesome!
We had an insanely busy week with American Grandstand and our class party! Unlike my usual self, I didn't get a whole lot of pictures. But Mrs. Hartless is burning DVDs of Grandstand over the weekend. A slip went home today asking if families wanted a copy of the DVD. If you do, please make sure to read the slip and send it back in by MONDAY, so that we know how many we'll need.
At our class party, I played the class video year book, and each student went home with a copy of the DVD! Speaking of which, please make sure to try out your DVD this weekend to make sure it works, and let me know if there's a problem next Monday so I can burn you another copy.
Students also went home with a special picture that I printed separately for each student. I'll post everyone's picture sometime this weekend so that everyone can see everyone each others. I have to black out the names first.
Our party was a phenomenal success, thanks to all of our wonderful parents who helped out. Big thanks to the parents of Hailey, Mackenzie, Mackenzie, Daniel, Michael, Khari, Jasmine, Destiny, Romin, Shane, Isabel, Alyssa, and Alonzo for joining us for the party!
And an extra special thanks to Sandra Lesley, who has devoted the past 10 years to raising her three beautiful grandchildren and doing everything she can to help all the students and teachers of Beauclerc! Both Mr. and Mrs. Lesley have given so much of themselves and have never once expected anything in return. I wanted to pay special tribute to them, and hopefully remind Petra, Nate, and Alice of how fortunate they are to have such awesome grandparents!
And that brings me to the subject of this post - My students are not much different than I was when I was their age, in that they don't yet fully appreciate how much their parents do for them. When I was ten, I too didn't appreciate how awesome my mother was and how she would do anything for my brothers and I.
When we decided to make a quilt to honor Ms. Harris back in January, my mother, who lives in Michigan and has never even met Ms. Harris, immediately offered to sew the quilt for us. She's been working on it for the past several months and shipped it out just in time for our end of the year party! She really did an amazing job on the quilt. Check out the pictures!
The quilt will hang somewhere in the school (haven't figured that out yet, probably the media center somewhere) so that we'll always remember Ms. Harris.
We still have a ton of stuff going on in the last few days of school! On Monday, we'll be practicing some last minute math skills. On Tuesday, the kids will get to see "Freak the Mighty!" And then on Wednesday it really gets nuts! Our fifth grade awards ceremony will start at 9:00 and run for probably over two hours. It's a very special event that you'll want to make it for if you can. Immediately after the awards, we'll head outside for our whole-fifth grade picnic! Then, at 6:30 Thursday morning, we'll head down to Disney World for a day at Animal Kingdom! (Don't forget the chaperon meeting Monday at 6:30 PM!) Finally, we'll wrap things up on Friday!
Don't forget - school ends at 12:00 on Friday, and there is no extended day.

Busy Final Two Weeks!
We have a ton of stuff coming up over the next two weeks! It's getting crazier and crazier every day! Just a few reminders for parents:
- We're having a full dress rehearsal for American Grandstand on the morning of Tuesday, June 2nd. Students need their costumes for their performance.
- American Grandstand is on June 3rd. Students need to come to school in costume and makeup (if applicable)
- The nighttime performance of American Grandstand begins at 7:00 PM next Thursday. Students need to be at school by 6:30, in the cafeteria to get ready for the show.
- Our class party is on Friday, June 4th at 11:30. Everyone should have signed up to bring or send in some item for the party. We also could use a couple parents to help set up before the party. Call or e-mail me to let me know if you can help out.

Knowledge-Bowl Winners!
Today was the final day of the Knowledge-Bowl! Joining Tiara, Daniel, Vanna, and Roosevelt are Anthony in Mrs. Wood's class and Shane in Mr. Sofferin's class!
Here are the four other finalists from Mr. Sofferin's class - Congrats to Petra, Isabel, Alyssa, and Kiana!
And here are the four finalists from Mrs. Wood's class - Antonio, Darien, Jonathan, and Merle!
Hailey and Anthony were the top two finalists from Mrs. Wood's class!
Shane and Romin were the top two finalists from Mr. Sofferin's class!
And the grand prize winners were Anthony and Shane! Congrats to both of them and to all of the finalists! And an especially big thank you to all of the students who showed awesome sportsmanship today!
