Lots of Upcoming Events!
We have a lot of big events coming up in the next two weeks! First, this coming week, we'll be finishing our units on multiplication/division and matter. That means we'll have two tests, one for each unit. Our math test will be on Wednesday and the science test will be on Friday. Then, we'll be starting our new units on fractions and energy. We're also starting a new social studies unit this week on the Revolutionary War. The following week is when it gets REALLY busy! Monday, October 26th, there is no school. On Tuesday, October 27th is our Live Wax Museum! Students will have that final weekend to finish up their projects, including their costume, display board, and report. They also need to memorize their 60-second speech. The presentation of the Live Wax Museum will be in the morning on the 27th. Then, we'll be having a nighttime presentation for families, including a FREE pasta dinner for everyone who attends! If you haven't already done so, send in the order form for the dinner so that we know how much we need. Remember, it's FREE!!!
On Thursday, October 29th, the entire fifth grade will be going to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra! This field trip is free, but students must have their permission slips turned in in order to go! If you haven't already sent yours in, please do so ASAP! This is only a half day field trip, and we will be back in plenty of time for lunch, so you do not need to send a bagged lunch this time.
On Friday, October 30th, we'll be having our second class luncheon - this time a Halloween party!!! Please let me know ASAP if you are planning to attend and also if you will be bringing or sending anything in for the luncheon!
Also, on the 30th, we're going to be doing a special Halloween science project involving pumpkins! In order to do this, I am asking for parents to send in a pumpkin to be used for the project. We'll need 12 pumpkins, varying in size, between the two classes. Any student who brings a pumpkin will be able to bring it back home undamaged at the end of the day next Friday! Please send one in if you can!
Also, during that project, there is going to be a lot of stuff going on in the room at the same time, and it'd be good to have an extra hand or two. If you'd like to help out in the classroom for this project, please let me know!
